Rocket launchers, flute gun given up in Bay area gun swap

TAMPA, Florida - Two rocket launchers and a flute fashioned into a gun were among the weapons turned into the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Gun Swap program on Saturday.

"We knew in light of the recent tragedy in Newtown that it would be popular," said Captain Chad Chronister.

A total of 2,541 weapons were exchanged for $75 and tickets to a Tampa Bay Rays home game at five locations throughout the county.

Gun Swap was an amnesty program of sorts, aimed at getting unwanted weapons of the streets.

Man calls 911 7 times, asking for female deputies

Dover, Florida -- A Hillsborough man is facing charges after calling 911... asking to have female deputies come over for sex.

Deputies say 32-year-old Joshua Basso called the emergency phone number seven times between Wednesday and Friday.

One might say Basso's requests were answered on Friday morning, when female deputies did arrive at his house. The deputies called for him to come outside, and when he did, Basso was promptly taken into custody.

Basso now faces seven counts of misuse of 911 calls.

Man defrauds over $14,000 in chandeliers in 4 counties

Land O' Lakes, Florida -- Pasco County Sheriff's detectives have arrested a man they say was responsible for defrauding multiple Home Depots stores in four counties.

Detectives say Nicholas Anderson, of Land O' Lakes, went to Home Depot stores over 61 times in Pasco, Hernando, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties and stole chandeliers through ticket-switching.

Tony submitted this Pet Paparazzi pic to our 10 News Morning Show crew and it was the talk of the newsroom Monday afternoon.

While maybe not in the best taste, this should undoubtedly brighten everyone's day for a brief moment...and who doesn't deserve a good laugh?!

Man hits 8 cars, light pole while beating woman in car

Brandon, Florida -- A man seen punching a woman while driving on a major road in Brandon was arrested moments after he caused over $50,000 in damage to other vehicles in his path.

Authorities say on May 21 around 10:45 p.m., Varance Hibbett was heading east on Brandon Boulevard near Lithia Pinecrest Road when witnesses saw him punching a woman and grabbing her by her hair as she tried to get out of the car. Witnesses also told police they heard him say to the woman, "I'll kill you..."
