Tampa Bay Lightning's 10th annual Hockey N’ Heels event

Tampa, Florida-- The Tampa Bay Lightning have announced the 10th annual Hockey N’ Heels event taking place at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, on March 27 from 6:30 to 9:30 P.M. 

This event is geared specifically towards women and will allow you a firsthand look at a day in the life of a real life hockey player.  Ladies will be able to interact with players and coaches, tour the locker rooms and facilities, and get a behind the scenes look at what game day is all about.

Hillsborough County Seeks sponsors for Hack-A-Thon

Hillsborough County, Florida-- The first Hillsborough Hack-A-Thon  is set for next month, and county reps say they're seeking businesses with an interest in "becoming champions for innovation" to sponsor the event. 

The Hack-A-Thon will take place at the HCC Campus in Brandon on the weekend of April 12 - 14. Sponsorships will cover the necessary costs of advertisement, event space, prizes, food for the participants and other event-related expenses.

Hillsborough to host Nascar-themed Wacky Olympics

Ruskin, Florida - This Friday, Hillsborough County's Aging Services Division will host its annual Wacky Olympics event for all Hillsborough County residents age 50 and over. 

This year the Nascar-themed event will be held from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Brandon Community Center at 502 E. Sadie St. in Brandon.

Organizers say the Wacky Olympics has been an Aging Services tradition for more than 20 years, and each year, a center is named Wacky Olympics' Champion. Ruskin Senior Center was named Wacky Olympics winner  last year.

Brandon, Florida -- Celebrating St. Pat's Cats is an all month event where people can adopt cats for a very low cost. 

The Hillsborough County Animal Services on Falkenburg Road is offering adult cat adoptions for $20 which includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccination, micro-chip, and license tag.

The Hillsborough County Animal Services on Falkenburg is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for adoptions.

'Each One-Reach One' & site launch to tackle foster family recruitment goals

Tampa, Florida-- Despite Tampa Bay's lead in the state for the number of newly licensed foster families, state and local officials say they are still in desparate need of willing and well-suited parents as nearly 2,000 Bay area foster children remain. 

The recent "Fostering Florida's Future"  and "1200 New Foster Parents in 12 Months" initiatives have helped the Bay area land over 150 new foster homes just this year, and DCF officials say they are rolling out two new recruitment efforts to keep the growth going.

They say the event will be an opportunity for Commissioner Murman to meet residents, have coffee, and discuss their thoughts and concerns on various projects and community issues.
